Goddess: Rewind

Monday, September 20, 2010

last night I, along with many of my friends, was convicted to focus more on the floods that have devastated Pakistan. Western nations have largely ignored this crisis, which is actually (by the numbers, at least) far worse than the earthquake in Haiti or the tsunami that hit south asia years ago. Our response was needed in those crises, and is still needed... but the press has not focused on this even larger crisis in Pakistan... maybe due to the war... maybe due to religious/cultural tensions between cultures... who really knows?

The first "goddess" featured here was Greg Mortenson, a brave and nobel man building schools for girls in that region. I can't imagine what he and his team have been going through, as I'm sure many of their schools have been destroyed. Please revisit the post on Greg to remember what he's doing in that region to empower girls and women, and be inspired to help!

Also, go here to find more organizations that are on the ground there helping flood victims. Anything you can give will help... and will save the efforts to empower our fellow goddesses in that area of the world. Thanks!
